Abhineet Chowdhary, MD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon and Managing Partner of SWAN Brain & Spine in Scottsdale, Arizona. He specializes in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery, as well as the surgical treatment of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions. His clinical expertise includes brain aneurysms, disc replacement, spinal fusion, and sacroiliac joint fusion.
Dr. Chowdhary believes exceptional care begins with helping patients fully understand their condition and the treatment options available to them. He takes a collaborative and individualized approach to care, considering each patient’s diagnosis, symptoms, lifestyle, and personal goals when developing a treatment plan. His focus is not only on treating the condition, but also on helping patients preserve or regain function and return to the activities that are important to their everyday lives.
Dr. Chowdhary earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health before completing his neurological surgery residency at the University of Washington. His extensive training included experience in spine and trauma surgery, vascular neurosurgery, tumor surgery, and skull base surgery. He also trained at Atkinson-Morley Hospital in London and later completed fellowships in Diagnostic Neuroradiology and Interventional Neuroradiology/Endovascular Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chowdhary has contributed to research involving brain aneurysms, stroke treatment, and minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion, serving as a principal investigator in multiple clinical studies. He is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Practice at Arizona State University’s John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering.
His leadership experience includes serving as past president of the Washington State Association of Neurological Surgeons and former Director of the Overlake Neuroscience Institute in Bellevue, Washington.
Dr. Chowdhary is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery with RFP certification in Endovascular Neurosurgery.
