BONE MARROW CONCENTRATE

Integrating Regenexx® Procedures into Comprehensive Pain Management.

Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC) Therapy in Phoenix, Peoria, Scottsdale & Mesa

Mountain View Headache & Spine Institute × Regenexx® — non-surgical, image-guided orthobiologic care for spine & joint pain.

What is Bone Marrow Concentrate?

Bone marrow concentrate (also called BMAC) is your own bone marrow that’s processed into a smaller, more potent volume rich in cells and growth factors for targeted orthopedic use.

How BMC May Help With Pain

After a small bone-marrow draw, the sample is spun to concentrate key components; the refined injectate is then placed precisely into the injured area under image guidance to support your body’s healing response.

Why Mountain View × Regenexx

Mountain View Headache & Spine Institute (MVHSI) is listed as a Regenexx location in Phoenix. That means our physicians use Regenexx protocols for evaluation, processing, and precise, image-guided injections designed for musculoskeletal pain—often as an alternative to surgery.

What We Treat (Examples)

  • Spine pain drivers (disc, facet-related pain, stenosis), neck/lower-back pain
  • Major joints and soft-tissue injuries (shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, hand/wrist, foot/ankle)
  • Some nerve-related pain patterns associated with orthopedic issues
Candidate suitability is determined after a Regenexx-style evaluation.

Our Process (What to Expect)

  1. Comprehensive Evaluation
History, exam, and imaging review to identify the true pain generator and whether BMC (or another orthobiologic) fits your case.
  2. Precision, Image-Guided Procedure
Regenexx protocols emphasize ultrasound and/or fluoroscopy guidance so the injectate reaches the exact target tissue.
  3. Same-Day Harvest & Reinjection
For BMC (Regenexx-SD), cells are harvested and reinjected the same day as part of a standardized workflow.
  4. Recovery & Return to Activity
Most procedures are outpatient with limited downtime; we pair your plan with activity guidance to support healing.

What We Inject (Orthobiologic “Medicines”)

  • Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC): Contains your own stem cells and signaling cells that help coordinate repair.
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) & Platelet Lysate (PL): Concentrated platelets (or their released growth factors) that can be used alone or as adjuncts depending on tissue needs.

How we decide: BMC, PRP, and PL play different roles. Choice depends on the structure injured (e.g., ligament vs. joint vs. disc-adjacent tissues), severity, and your goals after a full evaluation.

Is BMC a “Stem Cell Therapy”?

BMC does contain stem cells, and current understanding ties part of its mechanism to that stem-cell content; however, terminology and regulations around “stem cell therapy” can be nuanced. We use Regenexx’s evidence-minded approach and language for clarity and compliance.

Evidence Snapshot (Selected)

  • Some randomized data suggests BMC and PRP performed similarly at 1 year for knee osteoarthritis (context-specific; patient selection matters).
  • Historic orthopedic studies report encouraging results for certain non-union fractures using BMC (different indication than typical pain management, but informative on biologic potential).
  • Regenexx keeps a large outcomes registry and outlines commonly treated orthopedic conditions; candidacy is individualized.

Important: Outcomes vary. Not all conditions—or patients—are appropriate for orthobiologic care. Your MVHSI clinician will discuss expected benefits, risks, and alternatives for your specific case.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Our team follows Regenexx processing and targeting standards, using your own bone marrow on the same day and performing procedures with image guidance in an outpatient setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the appointment?
Most BMC procedures are same-day outpatient visits; timelines vary by area treated and your plan.

Will I need time off?
Many patients experience limited downtime and can resume light activity relatively quickly, per clinician guidance.

Is BMC always better than PRP?
Not necessarily; they serve different roles. Your plan may favor PRP, PL, BMC—or a staged approach—based on the target tissue and goals.

Who performs the procedure?
Regenexx-trained physicians at recognized locations like MVHSI.
