Fibromyalgia is a type of medical condition that causes pain all over the body. I see it exhibited in my patients with their complaints of sleep problems, fatigue, and often emotional and mental distress. I have found that my patients who suffer from fibromyalgia are more sensitive to pain than people without Fibromyalgia. I can usually diagnose this condition after fully evaluating their medical history, physical examination, X-rays, and blood work. Contact my office today if you suspect you may have this condition. My office can provide immediate pain management solutions.
Other less common symptoms include: Pain in the face and jaw aka TMJ; numbness at hands and feet; digestive issues such as abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and even irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Treatment:
Self-management is usually the best form of treatment for this condition. It is also beneficial to seek medical treatment with a pain management doctor like myself. I can usually help treat fibromyalgia by offering pain management options such as certain medications and other treatments that can only be administered at my office.
Long-Term Complications:
Fibromyalgia has been found to cause pain, and disability, and lower my patient’s quality of life. It leads to more visits to the hospital. A person with this medical condition is twice as likely to require hospital care at some point in their life. Women with fibromyalgia may experience a lower quality of life than men. Higher rates of major depression, suicide, and other injuries are found. They also suffer from higher rates of other rheumatic conditions. Fibromyalgia often co-occurs with other types of arthritis such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and ankylosing spondylitis.
