INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT PHOENIX, AZ
Joint Injections
A targeted, image-guided treatment that delivers medication directly into a joint to help reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
TREATMENT OVERVIEW
What Are Joint Injections?
Joints are what keep us moving, whether it’s walking through downtown Phoenix, golfing in Scottsdale, or simply getting up from a chair at home in Mesa. But when arthritis, injury, or inflammation sets in, these everyday movements can become painful and exhausting.
A joint injection is a minimally invasive treatment that delivers anti-inflammatory medication directly into a painful joint. By calming irritation at the source, joint injections help reduce pain, restore movement, and improve quality of life. At Mountain View Headache & Spine Institute, with clinics in Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, and Peoria, Arizona, we provide joint injections to help patients return to the activities they enjoy without relying on long-term medications or surgery.
WHEN MIGHT THEY HELP?

Osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease)
Overuse or repetitive stress injuries
Persistent joint pain that hasn't improved with conservative treatments, such as medications or physical therapy
How Does the Procedure Work?
Evaluation
We’ll review your symptoms, medical history, and imaging to determine whether a joint injection may be appropriate for your condition.
Image Guidance
Using imaging guidance (fluoroscopy or ultrasound) when appropriate, your physician carefully identifies the targeted joint for precise needle placement.
Injection
A small amount of medication, which may include a local anesthetic and an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, is injected directly into the joint.
Recovery
You’ll be monitored briefly after the procedure. Many patients can return to light activities the same day, depending on their physician’s instructions.
What Happens After The Procedure?
You may experience temporary soreness at the injection site or changes in your pain as the medication takes effect.
Your care team will provide instructions on activity, recovery, and follow-up care. Pain relief varies depending on your condition and individual response.
